The Hope of the Gospel

Because of the Gospel, we have hope. Jesus promised, "'In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world'" (John 16:33). As we apprentice to Jesus, we learn to meet the God of the mountain top and the God of the valley. We learn to hold both realities. Jesus meets us in our joy, revealing his goodness. And Jesus meets us in the midst of our suffering and sorrow. Regardless of our circumstances, we can hope in his resurrection and his plan for redemption.

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
